Brussels, the city...not the sprout

Lindsay and I have arrived!! Yesterday, after a missed flight and money lost...we made it to Brussels, Belgium. We are staying with Tommy and his family, Tommy was Lindsay's exchange student 5 years ago. He and his family are such wonderful hosts. Tommy speaks English along with his mom who is the sweetest lady! His dad and sister don't speak english so we all spend a lot of time pointing and smiling at each other. I'll tell you one thing though...laughing is universal!! Last night Maria asked us if wanted Berlin balls which are a pasterie. We spent a good 5 minutes trying to figure out what she said...but, it sure did sound like boiling balls. Which did NOT sound appetizing! They were delicious...covered in powdered sugar...we laughed so hard at boiling balls that Tommy blew the sugar off of his all over the kitchen table!! We spent the day in brussels which is so beautiful! we were oooooing and awwwing For four hours straight. The city is full of old brick apartments with iron balconies. Our favorite part was a small street called rue Boucher which is only welcome to foot traffic and is about 15 feet wide. Each side of the streets are lined with restaurants and brick apartments covered in iron and ornate stone work. We felt as if everyone should break out in song and dance...which we proceeded to do several times this trip! We headed home and were greeted by our hosts. Tommy announced "get some sleep...we are heading to Paris in the morning!" Seriously!? It feels like a dream! We will write about Paris later. But for now...au revoir!
